Shosei Inokawa (Atamishi, Japan) continues to be successful in the Photographic Hole Challenge after making a birdie and a par. The three points added to his total score puts him atop leaderboard. A player who continues to fight for that first spot is Ayaka Nakyama (Kanagawa, Japan) who added another two points to be at 6 points to be tied for third spot.

This past weekend saw eight top performers who all earned three points to put them in a good spot to make a move to win this series at the end of the season. One of the top performers was Cole Ray (Raleigh, NC) who earned three points to get him to a total of six points and is tied for third place with Ayaka.Other students who performed well to put them on the scoreboard were Paige Cappelli (Blue Pell, PA) who birdied the hole the first day and then made a solid par the last day to get her first three points in the series.

For a few of our Academy students, this was their first tour event with the IJGT and they all got off to a great start by making either birdie or par each day. Takakazu Furukawa (Shiga, Japan), Matthew Kemps (Palos Verdes Estates, CA) and Evan Smith (Bluefield, WV) all earned three points and are tied for 19th place.

The next event in this series will take place this weekend at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, FL. The hole being featured this week is hole No. 5 on the North Course.

年末年始をはさみイーグルポイント・ゴルフクラブからシーズンがスタートしたIJGT。池やバンカーがある難しい11番ホール（パー3）でフォトグラフィックホールチャレンジが行われました。2日間で25つのパー、15つのバーディーがでました。

熱海市出身の猪川頌生は今回のフォトグラフィックホールチャレンジでもバーディーとパーを出し、今までのポイントに3ポイントが加わり、現在トップを走っています。神奈川出身の中山綾香も2ポイントを獲得し、3位タイと猪川を追い上げます。

先週末はトップ8人全員がそろって3ポイントを取り、シーズンの最後に優勝するチャンスがあります。その中の1人、コール・レイ（ノースカロライナ州）はトータル6ポイントで中山綾香とタイの3位に入っています。ペイジ・カペッリ（ペンシルバニア州）も初日にバーディ、2日目にパーを出し3ポイントを獲得しています。

IJGA生の中には、今回が初めてのフォトグラフィックホールチャレンジという学生も数人いました。滋賀県出身の古川貴和、マシュー・ケンプス、エヴァン・スミスは3ポイントを取り、19位タイとなっています。

次回のフォトグラフィックホールチャレンジは今週末のIJGT。フロリダのインスブルックリゾートの5番ホール（北コース）です。みなさん、頑張ってください。

Battling for the Boys 15-19 Division Zachary Martin from Pinehurst, North Carolina posted round of 69-74= 143 to top the scoreboard and edge out Hank Haney IJGA student Evan Smith (74-75= 149). Smith started his first semester with the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy 2 weeks ago and is already showing he will be a contender in many events in the future.

Another tight race was going on in the Girls 19 and Under Division as Lydia Gumm of Radcliff, Kentucky fired a final round 2-under 69 to take home the hardware. Hank Haney IJGA student Moyu Sasaki was a close second firing consistent rounds of 73-73 making a tournament total of 146.

The final battle for the title came down to the Boys 14 and Under Division as Joshua Allen of Wilson, North Carolina took home the honors. With rounds of 75-76, Allen edged our fellow competitor and Hank Haney IJGA student Shogo Ito. Shogo started the round with a bang, with a birdie on the first but Joshua ended the round with back-to-back birdies to be crowned the winner of the IJGT Winter Shootout.

サウスカロライナのイーグルスポイントから春のIJGTトーナメントが始まりました。土曜日は暖かく、よく晴れて素晴らしい日でしたが、土曜日の夜から激しい雨にみまわれ、日曜日は軽い横風と寒さに悩まされた日となりました。そんなコンディションの中、プレーヤーたちは最後まで熱闘を繰り広げてくれました。

15~19歳男子の部では、ノースカロライナ州出身のザチャリー・マーティンが69-74（143）で、IJGA生エヴァン・スミス(74-75=149)をかわして優勝。スミスは2週間前にIJGAに入学したばかり。今後の大会で上位を狙える可能性を見せてくれました。

男子に負けじと19歳女子の部も接戦となりました。ケンタッキー州出身のリディア・ガムは最終日、2アンダーの69でまわり優勝を手にしました。IJGA生の佐々木もゆは73-73（146）で2位に入りました。

そして、最後の勝負は14歳以下男子の部。接戦の末、ノースカロライナ州出身ジョシュア・アレンが優勝、IJGA生伊藤奨悟が2位となりました。伊藤がバーディーから好スタートしたかと思えば、ジョシュアは連続してバーディーをとり、軍配はジョシュアに。IJGTで優勝を勝ち取りました。

次のIJGTはインスブルックのフロリダスウイングです。IJGA生のみなさん、頑張ってください！

No surprise to see many Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy students competing in the Golfweek West Coast Junior Invitational this past weekend at Whirlwind Country Club in Chandler, Arizona. Ten Hank Haney IJGA students flew to Arizona to compete in the two-day invitational tournament. The tournament began with practice rounds on Thursday and Friday and tournament rounds Saturday and Sunday. Coming off Holiday break, the students were ready to get back into competition and the scores showed this to be true.

Matt Cheng, sophomore at the Hank Haney IJGA, proved he is a fierce contender firing an opening round 68. Mickey Werenski shined through with an opening round 72. In the Girls Division, Moyu Sasaki came on strong in the first round, posting a 73. Ayaka Nakayama was not far behind, opening her first round with a 76.

The first day didn't hold all of the excitement, as the second round proved to be an exciting final round.

Matthew Rushton posted a final round 2-under par 70 to boost him into the top 15. Ben Dietrich was right there with him shooting a 2-under par 70, which put him in a tie for 14th place.

1月14日?15日にかけてアリゾナで行われたゴルフウィーク・ウエストコースト・ジュニアインビテーショナルでIJGA在校生が活躍を見せました。10人のIJGA生が1泊2日でアリゾナへ飛び、国際大会に出場しました。トーナメントは木・金曜日の練習ラウンドから始まり、土日のトーナメントへと突入。年末年始の休暇明けの試合で、IJGA生たちは試合勘を取り戻し始めました。

IJGA生マット・チャンは68とスタートダッシュに成功。ミッキー・ワレンスキーも72とまずまずのスタートとなりました。女子の部では佐々木もゆが73と好調で、中山綾香も76とその後を追いかけます。

第1日目は激しい試合となりましたが、最終ラウンドでもその熱気は続きました。

マシュー・ラシュトンは最終ラウンドで2アンダーの70を出し、トップ15位に入る健闘を見せました。ベン・ダイリッチも2アンダーでラシュトンと並び、14位タイとなりました。

アドバイザリースタッフの菅野プロとお嬢様でOGの悠里さん、在校生、この春から入学の方とそのご家族と沢山の方々にお集まり頂きとても賑やかな会になりました。

「翠葉」では浅野様の故郷である本場の中華料理に皆さん大満足の様子。デザートには初代父母会会長を務められる中山様から「千疋屋の特大クリスマスケーキ」の差し入れに、子ども達のみならずお母様達も大喜びでした。

今後は東京近郊のみならず、日本全国のIJGAファミリーが親睦を深められる様、広げていきたいものです。今後とも引き続き、よろしくお願い申し上げます。
